Swain

Ryan Swain, Head Coach U19

Ryan is a Jackson, New Jersey native who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the youth, junior, and college hockey world. Ryan played local tier 2 youth hockey until he joined the New Jersey Rockets Junior program at age 17. The team went on to compete against top U18 competition as well as winning the Metropolitan Junior Hockey League, earning a spot in Tier 3 Junior Nationals. Ryan spent two seasons with the Rockets, playing with countless Division 1 and current professional players such as Charlie McAvoy, Cam Dineen, Jeremy Bracco, & Chad Krys among many more. He then left for the NOJHL Kirkland Lake Goldminers. After one season there, Ryan finished playing junior for the Northern Cyclones. From there, Ryan went on to Northland College (NCAA 3) for a short stint before spending three years at Neumann University (NCAA 3).

Ryan has been involved in the hockey community not only as a player but also as a referee for 15 years and a skills coach for the past 7 years. Ryan was the head coach of New Jersey Junior Titans 16u American and 18u Elite teams for two years (2021-2023), as well as an assistant to Catholic High School for two seasons. Ryan’s primary business is Swain’s Hockey Skills & Development, which is a hockey training brand in the New Jersey area that trains players through one-on-one sessions, group sessions, clinics, team training, as well as hosting in and out of season tournaments. In the summer, Swain’s Hockey trains over 20 professional and Division 1 players.




Barbossa

David Barbossa, Head Coach U16

13 years of Coaching experience, Level 4 Coach, Coached at Jersey City Capitals, Devils Youth, and Ironbound Elite

  • Coach at 10,12,14, and 16U teams
  • Coach of the only all-female team to win and advance in the NJYHL 12u A division conference
  • Coach of the 14 and 16 Teams that won the NGHL championships

Dave played varsity high school hockey at Hudson Catholic in Jersey City and is in the top 10 all-time scoring leaders in the state. He then went on to play Midget tier 1 with the Essex County Chiefs and from there onto Juniors Hockey with the NJ Golden Blades. In 1988 Dave was invited to try out for the Weyburn Red Wings for tier 2 Junior hockey in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. Dave played at Seton Hall University where he also played varsity baseball. In 1991 Dave began playing with the Newark Sabres off the M.A.S.H. League until 1999 when the league folded. Dave graduated from Montclair University and from 1992 to present he has been a firefighter in Jersey City. Dave has been coaching youth hockey for the past 13 years most recently with the Ironbound 2007s team which he coached from U12 to u16 with great results!




Hayduk

Tim Hayduk, Assistant Coach U16

Tim brings several years of coaching experience at the club travel Mites through the High School level. His coaching experience has been with the Winding River House League for two years, the Toms River Blackhawks for seven years, South Jersey Selects tournament teams, Parker’s Army Hockey tournament teams, and the Toms River South/East High school. He has been the Junior Varsity Head Coach for South/East and an assistant Varsity Head Coach for the past four years. Tim played hockey up through Middle and High School levels in Toms River, New Jersey. Tim is a USA Hockey Level 4 Certified Coach and will complete his Level 5 certification this year. Tim has served ten years in the United States Coast Guard, over twenty years as a sworn law enforcement officer, and several years as an Emergency Medical Technician in New Jersey. He brings decades of leadership experience to the East Coast Valkyries.




Haviland

Brianna Haviland, Head Coach U10

Brianna was a member of the Elmira Women’s Hockey Team 2018-2022. 2x UCHC champion and 2x NEHC champion. Brianna was a part of the Elmira College team to go to the Frozen Four National Championship in 2022.

Prior to college, Brianna attended Williston Northampton Prep School where she played on the Varsity Prep team competing for the NEPSAC Championship.

Brianna played youth hockey for the NJ Rockets and NJ Titans where she attended USA Hockey Nationals 4x. Earning a bronze medal at the U14 T2 Nationals. She is a 4x Atlantic District Camp attendee.

Brianna has a strong understanding of the game and an even deeper understanding of what it takes to play. Brianna is excited to connect with the players and help them develop on and off the ice to reach their goals of playing the highest level of hockey they can.
